Join us for City of Water Day’s tour of Newtown Creek, onboard a New York Water Taxi with Newtown Creek Alliance Historian Mitch Waxman. Forming the border of Brooklyn and Queens for nearly four miles, the heavily industrialized waterway has been named to the Federal Superfund list. Onboard our comfortable vessel you will hear about its dark past, learn about its current condition, and imagine its future.
City of Water Day is the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance’s way “to bring together everything about the water that is exciting and fun, from port commerce to environmental education to active recreation. The event is a celebration of the potential of the waterfront.”
