In 2018, Newtown Creek Alliance worked with Riverkeeper* to create a vision for restored intertidal habitat and salt marsh with the Maspeth Creek tributary. The inlet presents some of the most obvious and ideal conditions for restoration within Newtown Creek and was listed as a key project in our 2018 Newtown Creek Vision Plan. The document provides context for the project, including current conditions, remediation challenges and potential to create 3.5 acres of natural habitat while also protecting local businesses and increasing public access.
