JOIN NCA’S SECOND SUMMER UHI FELLOWSHIP COHORT!

NCA will be hosting a six week, full time, paid research fellowship for New Yorkers aged 18-25. Fellows will learn the role of scientific inquiry and longitudinal studies in community based environmental revitalization efforts, practice fieldwork and data collection, and contribute to improved knowledge of local environmental justice issues all within the context of Newtown Creek and its surrounding Industrial Business Zones in Maspeth, Queens. The Fellowship will conclude with a poster presentation in front of community stakeholders and local environmentalists. Learn more about the UHI Fellowship here.

This research and educational program is intended for young adults with an interest in improving the health and well-being of their communities through green infrastructure, and its role in mitigating urban heat island effect.

Our ideal candidates have an interest in or relationship to Newtown Creek and the surrounding neighborhoods and have not completed a bachelor’s degree. Selected fellows are expected to be able to commit to full-time hours from late June through the beginning of August.

Rolling applications are due June 12th, 2023 by 5pm est.
