Street End Cleanups

This year NCA will be focussing our efforts on improving a handful of street-end sites on Newtown Creek. Our goal is to improve environmental conditions at these sites, while also making them safer and more inviting as green public areas along the shore. We also anticipate that these areas will be prime viewing sites for the demolition of the Kosciuszko Bridge, which will include the removal of the main span by barge (scheduled for late May) and demolition of approach sections (scheduled for mid July).

How You Can Help
NCA is running a series of public workdays at each street-end site. We are looking for volunteers to help us accomplish some simple tasks and short-term goals like trash and debris removal, planting native flora and path making. Gloves, shovels, trash bags and all other needed materials will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.
