This June NCA is hosting a series of events centered around the English Kills tributary of Newtown Creek aimed to engage the East Williamsburg and Bushwick communities with this inaccessible waterway and ways that the upland communities can help improve conditions in both the Creek and on local streets.
This event will include:
- Compost giveaway with BIG Reuse (first come, first serve)
- Introduction to the importance of green infrastructure (why it is good for water quality in Newtown Creek)
- Hands-on maintenance of curbside rain gardens around Maria Hernandez Park with NYC DEP
- Cleanup of sidewalk and street trash around Maria Hernandez Park
