For the past few years, NCA has been taking greater note of the wildlife returning to the creek. Primarily this has been through our birdwatching tours, as well as recently teaming up with our partners at LaGuardia Community College and North Brooklyn Boat Club. Working from the wildlife survey from the EPA’s phase 1 study of Newtown Creek we have developed a working inventory of animal species seen on Newtown Creek, presented here as a Google doc.
To help us grow our inventory we have also created a form for citizen scientists to fill out. So grab your binoculars and cameras, head to the creek and let us know what you see!
