Learn about industrial histories and ecological opportunities related to the Creek with us! Beginning at the Brooklyn side of the former Vernon Avenue Bridge (now Manhattan Ave Street End Park in Greenpoint), the walk will visit a number of key industrial operations and ongoing projects that are seeking to reintroduce invaluable habitat and reconnect the surrounding communities with this historic industrial waterway. We will stop by the Newtown Creek Nature Walk, the Kingsland Wildflowers Green roofs, and Dutch Kills Tributary en route to returning to the Queens side of the former Vernon Avenue Bridge. Come clean your River! Newtown Creek Alliance and Riverkeeper welcome you to take part in the 12th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep, an annual day of service for the Hudson River and its tributaries. This year our project will include cleanup, native vegetation planting, and invasive species removal. Register here.

On May 3, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a virtual public information session on Zoom about the Meeker Avenue Plume Superfund Site, providing an update on site-related investigations, followed by a Q&A session.
