NCA is hiring a full-time Restoration Manager to lead our efforts in advocating for, creating, and maintaining habitat, green infrastructure, and public access along Newtown Creek. This position will oversee NCA’s current horticulture and cleanup work at the various outdoor spaces we help maintain, including street-end sites, pocket parks and open spaces, marine-based and intertidal projects, and the Kingsland Wildflowers green roof. Additionally, the Restoration Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to identify, plan, and build collective support for the expansion of more restoration sites and access points on both sides of the waterway. Community Engagement Coordinator
NCA is hiring a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) to lead our public-facing programs and assist on environmental education programming and advocacy work. There are nine neighborhoods surrounding Newtown Creek, both in Queens (Hunters Point, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Maspeth, Ridgewood) and Brooklyn (Greenpoint, Williamsburg, East Williamsburg, and Bushwick). This position serves to connect communities in these neighborhoods to Newtown Creek and raise awareness about the environmental concerns and environmental justice issues present. By hosting tours, workshops, and events, the CEC works to inform neighbors about environmental burdens, fostering meaningful engagement, stewardship, and community-led action.
