June Public Meeting of the Newtown Creek Alliance 6/28

What’s new in your watershed? From Superfund to oil-eating mushrooms, tomorrow we will cover all the latest from the Creek. Join us for this informative meeting, which will include:

  • + Guest speaker Randall W. Austin, Chief of the Spill Prevention and Response Programs and the NYS DEC. Randy will give us the scoop on what to look for when we are at the water’s edge, and what to do if we see something amiss! Also, we might be able to get him talking about some of the wild stuff he has surely seen at his job…
  • + A report from the Education Workgroup on recent tours and educational events, including our first birdwatching excursions that helped us document almost thirty species of birds on the creek!
  • + A recap from a recent visit with the consultants doing sediment core sampling on the creek as part of the Superfund investigation. They have all the best toys!
  • + A peek “under the tarp” with our Bioremediation Workgroup to learn what the mycelium are up to this summer…
  • + AND MORE

See you there!
