The NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection is putting together a Long Term Control Plan (LTCP).for Newtown Creek In short, the LTCP is designed to address Combined Sewer Overflow and bring Newtown Creek into compliance with Clean Water Act standards. The process calls for community feedback and participation, so it is very important for stewards of the Creek to attend meetings, ask questions and submit comments during the process.

The City is scheduled to submit their plan by June 30th, 2017. In response to their proposed alternatives, NCA, along with our partners at Riverkeeper and the SWIM Coalition have put together a comment letter outlining strong views on what the LTCP should include to improve water quality in Newtown Creek for generations to come.

Our partners at the S.W.I.M Coalition have put together a wonderful intro book about the LTCP process, check it out here.
