This August Newtown Creek Alliance (NCA) is hosting a series of events centered around Plank Road, a unique street end site along Newtown Creek. We aim to engage folks with this inaccessible waterway and ways that the upland communities can help improve conditions both in the Creek and along its shoreline at sites such as Plank Road.
This event will include:
- Landscaping the existing vegetation and paths as well as trash cleanup along the shoreline.
Sign up and additional info here.
Join Hunters Point Park Conservancy and NCA for a small-group volunteer day at the 48th Ave Median Pollinator Garden. Please bring your own pair of gloves if you have one. You should also bring your own water bottle, wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. More information and sign up available here.
The 48th Median planting project is generously supported through the NYC Environmental Fund administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and NY State Department of Environmental Conservation. Additional funding for the project has been generously provided by Arc’Teryx. All median work is in tandem with and approved by the Queens Department of Transportation.
