Creek Critters is a marine ecology exploration program for people of all ages to interact with and learn about the critters who live in Newtown Creek!
Join us August 21-23 at the Newtown Creek Nature Walk in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to be part of the fun! And meet us there at 4:30 p.m. on August 22 to watch as we install bivalve habitat in the Creek.
NCA is thrilled to invite you to the final presentation of our 2024 UHI Summer Research Cohort! Over the past 8 weeks, our dedicated fellows have been studying the impacts of Urban Heat Island (UHI) within the North Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone (IBZ).
Come join us on Thursday August 15, 2024 at 6:30PM at the Kingsland Wildflowers Green Roof & Community Engagement Center for an evening of exciting research presentations on their work. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.
Come join us for the 8th Annual Kingsland Wildflowers Festival; a free family-friendly event allowing participants to: Explore our rooftop wildflower meadow; Experience art installations, performances and live music; Learn about native wildlife and ecology, including Newtown Creek; Engage with participating community and environmental organizations; Buy native plant species; Enjoy food and drinks with friends and family.
Kingsland Wildflowers is a 25,000 sqft native pollinator garden nestled in Greenpoint Brooklyn’s industrial business zone. The project partners include: Alive Structures, Broadway Stages, Newtown Creek Alliance, and NOoSPHERE Arts. Learn more about the project here.

ExxonMobil will be presenting on their propsed alteration to the Greenpoint Oil Spill Pollution Discharge System. We encourage community stakeholders to attend and learn more about the modification and what it might mean for the health of Newtown Creek and larger Greenpoint community. Join the Superfund Community Advisory Group for it’s monthly meeting to get the latest updates from EPA about the cleanup of Newtown Creek. The meetings are open to all, and we encourage concerned community members to come listen and get involved as we continue to push for a thorough and protective cleanup.
